Newtownmountkennedy Primary School was established as a co-educational school following the amalgamation of the boys and girls schools on the current campus. A unit for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was opened in 1999 and operates very successfully as an integrated part of the Primary School.
