The following is an update from SAAS in Mombasa on the students returning to school for the last term of the academic year:

There are currently 92 high school and college students sponsored by the Kilquade and Greystones parishes within the Social Justice Project. The demand for educational support is such that there are still 200 prospective students on the waiting list.

As part of our commitment to providing additional academic and personal support SAAS ran a two week August holiday program where students were taught by outside tutors and senior students in mathematics, sciences, humanities and computer applications.  Apart from academics the program also included sessions on peer talk and counselling where students could discuss issues affecting their mental and emotional well-being.

As they prepare for the final term SAAS remains committed to ensuring students have the academic, emotional and financial support they need to stay in school.
