On 11th October. 2023 we had a successful screening of the film documentary ‘The Letter’. The film is based on Pope Francis’ Encyclical ‘Laudato Si’.
This is a letter to every person on the planet on Care of Our Common home. The evening began meeting fellow parishioners & welcomed new people over a cuppa and some lovely cakes.
Following the screening of the film, which was presented by Jane Mellett of Trocaire, there was a lively Q&A session. People asked how we can take this conversation further and share the wisdom of ‘Laudato Si’ in our Pastoral Area and wider community.
Jane explained how Pope Francis launched the Laudato Si’ Goals (LSGs), seven goals to help
bring his vision of ‘Laudato Si’ into action. This is a blueprint for faith communities to respond to the ecological crises. Pope Francis has given us this road map to 2030 to help us care more deeply for God’s creation.
The ‘Laudate Si’ Seven Goals are as follows:
• Response to the Cry of the Earth
• Response to the Cry of the Poor
• Ecological Economics
• Adopting Sustainable lifestyles
• Ecological Education
• Ecological Spirituality
• Community Involvement and Participation
We are excited as some people present began to consider an initiative for our Pastoral Area in the New Year. Further information to follow.
