My First Holy Communion Memory Card was created to help your child focus on creating a visible sign for the invisible journey ahead. You can either download the attachment and print out your copy, or you can collect the printouts from

  • The Holy Rosary Church, Greystones
  • St. Kilian’s Church, Blacklion
  • St. Anthony’s Church, Kilcoole
  • St. Joseph’s Church, Newtownmountkennedy

The “First Holy Communion Memory Card” will be ready for collection from WEDNESDAY 17th November 2021 onwards.

And here’s a detailed explanation for your child of how to approach the task.

1. Think of everyone who accompanies you on your preparation journey. You may simply write down the names of your family members, friends and teachers, draw additional silhouettes on the card or stick photos.
Whatever you choose, make sure to ask those of your nearest and dearest who have already experienced their First Holy Communion about their memories. Helpful questions: what was so special about that day? What did you hope for when awaiting your First Holy Communion? How did you prepare yourself for the ceremony? Is there anything you would do differently today?

2. Based on your findings, form your own hopes and expectations. What do you imagine your First Holy Communion is going to be about? Use the “Letter of Hope” template to note down the prayer of your heart. Invite Jesus to journey with you and ask him to become your best friend on the way.

3. Invite your entire family to set up a Prayer Space. You have plenty of time, and we’ll be sending your parents some inspiration on how to do it. Make sure, however, that you have a dedicated corner ready for Sunday, 28th of November, when we’ll be inviting you to place your “Letter of Hope” in the heart of your prayer space.
